1. What this site records
Darkmarket is an independent project focused on research and security awareness. We aim to inform analysts, reporters and security teams — not to profile readers. Only the minimum data required to run the site is collected.
- Server access logs: standard web-server log entries holding the IP, timestamp, requested URL, user agent and referrer. They are retained for a short rolling period only for abuse prevention and capacity tuning.
- Aggregated statistics: anonymous numerical counts of pages and searches, used only to understand what topics interest readers. No personal identifiers are stored.
- Form submissions: data you voluntarily enter into the contact form or comment form (such as a name or email address). We never receive your data unless you explicitly submit a form.
2. Data we explicitly do not collect
- We do not pass visitor data to advertising networks, brokers or resellers.
- We do not load third-party tracking pixels or perform browser fingerprinting.
- There is no account, sign-in or wallet requirement to access the catalog.
- We have no visibility into other .onion services you visit — that traffic stays between you and Tor.
3. Cookies and persistent storage
Cookies are used only where strictly required — for instance, a session cookie when you submit a form, or a preference cookie when you toggle a UI option. We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear cookies at any time without losing access.
4. External services we rely on
We rely on a small number of third parties for technical reasons:
- Hosting and CDN: hosting and CDN services receive traffic to render pages. They process roughly the same data as our access logs.
- Web fonts: web fonts come from Google Fonts, so your browser may share its IP with Google during loading. If you would rather avoid this, blocking third-party fonts is fine — system fonts keep the site readable.
- Search engines: the site is indexed by mainstream search engines, helping researchers locate the catalog. What those engines record about your searches is outside our control.
5. Adult audience
Darkmarket is designed for adult professional and academic readers. We do not target children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of majority. If you are a minor, please do not use this site.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights to access, correct or erase any personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Because we deliberately collect very little personal data, in most cases there is nothing identifiable for us to act on. If you have submitted a form and want your data removed from our records, contact us via the link below.
7. Security measures
Reasonable technical and organisational safeguards are in place — HTTPS for all traffic, hardened server configuration and ongoing monitoring. No online service can guarantee perfect security, so apply your own operational hygiene when reaching out, particularly across the public internet.
8. Updates to this notice
We may update this policy occasionally to reflect changes in technology, regulation or our own practices. Material changes will be flagged on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
9. Contact information
Have a question about privacy or data handling? Send it via our contact form using a relevant subject line. We aim to respond in reasonable time and never reuse form submissions for marketing.
